Girl in the Mirror (2025)
15.5 x 10.5 | Gouache on Paper
This artwork exaggerates a moment when I stared at my breakout so long that the sink overflowed. By fixating on something so small, I missed the flood.
The "real" counter is messy and imperfect, filled with wet cotton pads, a dripping faucet, and water overflowing toward the edge. The reflection in the mirror has been cleaned, and the skin is clear. This piece is about everyday selective vision—the small edits that help us feel functional—and the costs of what we refuse to see.
