Contemplation by the Fireside (2023)

28.6 x 23.8 | Oil on Canvas

"Contemplation by the Fireside" is a self-portrait set in my comfort zone, sitting by the fireside with my cats, wrapped in warmth and safety. Beyond the window lies total darkness. In one frame, the artwork shows both protection and an edge under it. The artwork captures the feeling of choosing comfort while privately acknowledging the bleakness outside. It isn’t about guilt, but about the concern that sits inside: ‘Am I allowed to feel okay right now?’
